ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization founded in 1946 with the goal of setting standards for international business and communication. ISO certification indicates that a third-party certifying agent has affirmed a company meets the specific standards that were established by the community of ISO standards bodies (one from each participating country) for businesses in their field. ISO is short for the Greek “isos,” which means “equal,” and refers to the mutual respect of all countries participating in this organization.
