The Skrivanek Baltic Translation Agency and Language School are moving and from 31 May, 2010, will be located at the new office at Dzirnavu Street 57a, 3rd floor (entrance on Baznīcas Street). The analysts agree: the volume of documents for translation will increase within the next ten years, even if opinions differ as to the extent to which this will happen. The language variety created by the expansion of the EU, for example, not only leads to a larger translation volume within the European institutions like the translation of minutes from meetings or legal drafts. It also increases the demand for translations at commercial firms and manufacturing companies, as the EU dictates that all technical documents are to be translated into the national languages (RL79/112/EWG).
Globalization and the associated growth will provide the GILT sectors (Globalization, Internationalization, Localization and Translation) with an enormous boom. The European Union of Associations of Translations Companies (EUATC) assumes that the translation market will observe an annual growth of approximately five percent during the next few years. Irrespective of the use of the English language as lingua franca, a further development is also becoming apparent – the protection of cultures and languages. The translation market will without a doubt profit from this tendency.
In addition, the growing recognition of an ever more multilingual population in the US and elsewhere will further increase the demand for language services.
Apart from these developments, technological innovations and a continuously increasing product portfolio require a better quality of translations as well as more flexible translators and translation agencies.

During the current academic semester, the Skrivanek Latvia Language School hosts special Language Games communication lessons. These lessons are different in that the conversation club instructor uses several interactive learning methods – role plays, partner and group discussions, presentations, questionnaires and contest, board games, monologues and dialogues, all of which help expand vocabulary, its practical use, English idioms and sentence structure, as well as how to actively use the language in day-to-day and formal situations.

In some other countries they barely pronounce our brand name, yet even in such territories we have kept it since they will at least remember us as the firm with an unpronounceable name,” says Pavel Skřivánek, the owner of a translation agency bearing the same name, which operates in 13 countries on three continents.
After graduating from the Prague University of Economics, he joined a trading firm that supplied light weapons to Slovakia. He would load air rifles in a Skoda Forman and deliver them to Prešov in Slovakia. His gross monthly wage was CZK 3,500, and so he soon began to earn extra money by interpreting and doing translations from German and English.
